My Love Affair with the Belladonna Series by Adalyn Grace

If you’re anything like me, a lover of all things gothic, romantic, and just a touch morbid; then the Belladonna series by Adalyn Grace will absolutely steal your heart. I recently devoured all three books (Belladonna, Foxglove, and Wisteria) and I’m not exaggerating when I say this trilogy is one of my new all-time favorites. Each book is hauntingly beautiful, exquisitely written, and brimming with rich atmosphere, star-crossed romance, and spine-tingling mystery. I gave all three books an easy 5-star rating.
🖤 Belladonna: A Dance with Death
The first book introduces us to Signa Farrow, an orphaned girl who has spent her life being passed from one indifferent guardian to the next. She’s always been a bit different, plagued by illness that never seems to kill her, and the chilling presence of Death himself, who’s more charming (and devastatingly attractive) than any grim reaper has a right to be. When Signa is sent to Thorn Grove, a decaying estate full of secrets, she finds herself embroiled in a murder mystery… and falling for the one entity she’s been warned against her whole life. This book had me swooning, gasping, and flipping pages long into the night.
🌿 Foxglove: Power, Poison, and Passion
The second installment is lush with tension as Signa’s powers grow and the stakes deepen. We get even more of her complicated, slow-burn relationship with Death, who somehow manages to be both darkly mysterious and emotionally vulnerable. The introduction of new characters, blooming rivalries, and the poison-drenched politics of the noble court made this a rich, addictive read. Grace perfectly balances romance and gothic suspense, and the twists? Let’s just say I did not see them coming.
🌸 Wisteria: A Breathtaking Conclusion
How do you wrap up a series that has captivated readers with its enchanting prose and delicious tension? With Wisteria, Grace sticks the landing in a way that’s equal parts heartbreaking and healing. This final book is bold, fast-paced, and emotionally satisfying. The character arcs come full circle, secrets are unearthed, and Death, my forever book boyfriend, absolutely shines. I cried, I cheered, and I may have hugged the book when it was over.
Final Thoughts: A Trilogy Worth Obsessing Over
Adalyn Grace has crafted a world so vivid, so elegantly eerie, that it lingers like perfume in an old ballroom. Her writing is lyrical without being overly flowery, her world-building is immersive, and the romance is everything I crave; yearning, dangerous, and deeply tender. If you’re looking for a gothic fantasy with a touch of poison and a lot of heart, The Belladonna Series should be at the top of your TBR.
